Cathodic protection

Design, procurement, construction, maintenance and monitoring of cathodic protection systems to control corrosion on buried or submerged metal structures.

We control corrosion on pipelines, tanks, docks and vessels, buried or submerged.

We design and build galvanic-anode and impressed-current systems, and keep them in service with periodic potential surveys.

We manufacture part of what we install: shunts, Cu/CuSO4 reference electrodes and magnesium anodes made with alloys developed by our own staff.

Scope

What we do

01

Galvanic anode systems: magnesium, aluminum and zinc

02

Impressed-current systems with Ti-MMO and Fe-Si-Cr anodes

03

Soil resistivity surveys for system design

04

Coating quality testing and DCVG surveys

05

Maintenance and potential monitoring

06

Supply of in-house shunts, electrodes and anodes

How it works

Two systems, one goal

Galvanic anodes. Magnesium, aluminum or zinc alloys that oxidize more readily than the protected metal. The potential difference makes the anode corrode instead of the structure.

Impressed current. A bed of Ti-MMO or Fe-Si-Cr anodes is connected to the structure through an external power source that drains current until protection potentials are reached.

DCVG and coating quality. We locate coating defects by direct-current voltage gradient. Coating quality is estimated from its effective resistance, which depends on soil resistivity.

Minimum effective coating resistance versus soil resistivity.
